About Us

Started in 1998, The Other Voice is a response to the unfair and inadequate coverage of women in Uganda’s media.

Objectives

  1. Highlight negative/discriminative policies and laws, how they affect women and lobby for their reform.
  2. Generate and sustain gender debate for a fair and just society in Uganda.
  3. Highlight human rights issues relating to women and other marginalized groups such as children and the disabled.
  4. Provide a platform for women, children and the disabled people to have their voices heard.
  5. To counter the negative portrayal of women in and by the media.

The Other Voice welcomes stories based on the above objectives.  They could be news items, analysis commentary, investigative stories features, cartoons or photographs as long as they do not pull women down.  However, constructive criticism may be run but at the discretion of the Editor.

Individuals or Non-Governmental Organisations may submit stories which fall within the above categories.
